Leaving Babyhood

or babydom, not really sure the correct pronunciation here, but you get the picture.
Literally.

This is just the beginning of the road for my Mady girl.

 We've had a fun year!
We've learned a lot about little baby girls.
Especially this baby girl.
For instance:
Mady prefers men. Don't let her fool you. She may only want woman to hold her, but she flirts and laughs to get those boys attention. I don't know what this means for our future, but this is our present reality.
Mady rubs her eyes when she's tired, but will play through the desire to sleep...so you have to watch for her cues. She loves her blankey and will fall to sleep on her own with it in her arms.
Mady smacks the table when she wants more food.
Mady say's "Dat" and "Dis" when she means "that" and "this".
The "sshh" sound still soothes her.
Tickling her in her neck will get some of the best belly laughs you've ever heard....
and
put on any music and you'll see a groove you soon won't forget.

She's learned a lot and continues to surprise us.
She is interested in her surroundings and loves to take walks to talk about what she sees.
I never stop talking and teaching this little sponge.
Don't mistake her silence for disinterest, in fact in that moment she is memorizing exactly what is just so very interesting.

Don't get me wrong. She has and will continue to push, break, defy, test her boundaries.
The word "no" is being spoken many times to help teach and discipline this heart unto the Lord.
We do this so that she may "honor [her] father and mother, so that [she] may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving [her]." Exodus 20:12
It is for her good and so that it would go well with her soul.
but mostly that the glory would be given to the same God that in one word created
Mady
and
all of creation.

 Mostly, we have fun!

Because sometimes you've just gotta throw your hands up and sing!

Good bye my baby and hello my toddler....
but no matter where you go and
how big you get
you'll always be my baby.
Promise.
