Gospel Community Group

We go to an incredible church.
I really love it.
Our pews are filled with sinners, both saved and lost, authentically coming together to worship and learn more about Christ. We are striving to "build a community from all cultures where Christ is King".

This body of Christ cares well for one another. They take the sound, biblical teaching coming from the pulpit and apply it to their lives. Living radically to edify, encourage, give, love and grow with one another in hopes of bringing God MUCH GLORY!

Our church has small groups called "Gospel Community Groups" where we are able to really delve into one another's lives in practical and spiritual ways, while also seeking to reach the surrounding community with the love and hope of the Gospel.

Bryan and I were involved in a great Gospel Community Group during the first "chunk" of our time at Immanuel, but the group naturally dispersed due to the transient nature of our local community. Some people graduated seminary and joined the mission field, others moved away, two singles married and two families joined a GCG that was closer to their homes, in hopes of better caring for their neighbors....

So we joined another GCG close to our home with the same intention of shared community and to reach and love our neighbors well. Bryan and I have recently been given the opportunity to joyfully lead this Gospel Community Group. So we covet your prayers as we seek to continue to bring our group together in and under the love of Christ. We hope to encourage and grow faith, while also allowing natural community to knit our hearts together, as we seek to reach the city of Louisville (specifically St. Matthews) for Christ.

These pictures are of one of our "fun" hangouts together. One of our group's members, Ivy graciously treated our entire group to a much appreciated {KID FREE!!!} dinner at a local authentic Ethiopian restaurant, Queen of Sheeba.  One of our desires, as leaders of the group is to institute a "Missions-and-a-meal" night. To pick a nation/ region and attempt to either cook their local foods and have a pot luck dinner or dine out at this nation/regions local authentic restaurants. Our desire is for our group to continue to remember the nations in prayer and service (or both). We love this at home and think this will be great for our group too. So Ivy's gracious invite to an Ethiopian restaurant just helped to "kick off" our Missions and a meal idea :). Thanks Ivy!

One of the coolest parts of this experience was hearing the stories of one of our Pastor's and his wife who are in our group share about their time spent in Ethiopia when they adopted their two children there! It was a great night.
